Jim Kushner holds the lead with two months of baseball in the books, while Greg Glassman has climbed to second place thanks to three unique picks: J.D. Martinez (AL RBI), Edwin Diaz (AL S), and Jacob deGrom (NL ERA). However, with Corey Kluber and Max Scherzer making starts this afternoon and tonight, respectively, our leaderboard should have a different look tomorrow morning...

Jim Kushner takes his turn at the top as we enter the season’s 2nd quarter... As detailed in our last update, the lead changes between Jim and Harvey Hawkins are mainly driven by the innings pitched categories. While the AL battle is a clean point-swap between Verlander and Kluber, Harvey has no answer for Scherzer in the NL with Carlos Martínez spending more time in an MRI tube than on the mound.

Have a great weekend!

With Corey Kluber re-taking the AL IP lead from Justin Verlander, Harvey Hawkins is back on top after yielding his pool supremacy to Jim Kushner for a couple of days. Of course, leads based on innings pitched categories are pretty tenuous, as Verlander's next start will come a few days before Kluber's.

Hawkin's hold on the top spot is far from firm for another reason, besides the fact it's so early. With Jose Berrios getting his control under control and Josh Harrison out with a broken hand, Harvey has the third-lowest HBP total in the pool. By contrast, right behind him in the standings is Dan McCloskey, the pool's leader in the category on the strength of unique pick Carlos Martinez's league-leading total of 9. HBP have been the deciding factor in 4 of the last 6 years, so it's hard not to imagine Harvey's low total coming back to haunt him.

It's a long season, though. Good luck all!

Harvey Hawkins takes an early lead in our 14th year of the MLB Predictions Pool. The key word here is early (the Twins have only played twenty-four games!), but we thought a quick look at our standings might be appreciated.

Dan will give us a more complete update sometime around this weekend. In the meantime, follow @PredictionsPool for daily leaderboard tweets, or visit mlbpool.blogspot.com for standings and much more.

Thanks,
Jud & Dan
